Inoculating Your New Associate For Success..

Written by Marie on Feb 9th, 2009 | Filed under: All Posts, Motivational Leadership, Training

The idea is to protect yourself from disease if it’s rampant by getting vaccinated.  Although I don’t believe in vaccinations, I do believe in prevention.

But how do you prepare your new associate so they are resistant to network marketing negativity?

By that I mean that a new person entering the network marketing arena will have a lot of challenges to face and the biggest one will be the influences from others around them.

Why? Because we listen better to what’s negative about this world than what is positive.  All the media know to report are usually shock and awe.  I guess they figure that’s the way to keep people’s attention.

But in network marketing, this tactic will kill your new associate even before they get out of the gate.

So how do you prepare them?

  1. prepare your distributor by helping them to realize that others will try to turn them away from being successful. Why? Because if they are successful, then this really shines a spotlight on others who do not have the same success. It really boils down to that green eyed monster showing its colors.
  2. those that decry network marketing as a silly dream will also try to detract your new distributor from success. At this point, getting your new distributor to be really clear about their goals and their vision is crucial.  The vision is what sustains through thick and thin.
  3. show your new distributor how others have succeeded and always keep these people in sight.  By emulating successful leaders, one has a tendency to absorb the qualities needed to also make them a leader.
  4. get your new distributor to begin duplicating success by working with others and helping them realize their dreams too.  Often we are told that it’s not about us but about how much you can help others see the possibility of achieving dreams of their own.  Yours will come as a natural process when your concentration is upon giving to others.

So, inoculating your new associate for success is really easy when great leaders and trainers are there to mentor you every step of the way.

Get Over It! Your Fear Of Public Speaking..

Written by Marie on Feb 3rd, 2009 | Filed under: All Posts, Motivational Leadership

Yesterday I mentioned the discovery of the”Impostor” as shown to me by David Wood.

Part of the whole exercise was to teach us how to master the stage.  If you didn’t get a chance to look at my video on that topic, you can get it here.

But I wanted to add these points to overcoming your fear of the stage and public speaking:

  1. Be prepared. Know what you’re going to say. Never “wing-it.”  That’s why David’s 10 steps are so important.Study your materials; prepare your notes; role play what you will say into a tape recorder. When you stand up in front of people just think – “First I’ll say this, then I’ll say this.”
  2. Don’t focus your attention on you. Instead pay attention to your audience. When we are afraid, it’s because we focus on us instead of the other. So putting 100% of your attention on the audience is crucial to staying in control.

It’s only with practice and persistence that you will overcome your fears and be looked upon as a great speaker. So if being a great speaker is iimportant to you then following the 10 steps for a great presentation as given by David Wood and practising will make all the difference.

How To Find Your Impostor..

Written by Marie on Feb 2nd, 2009 | Filed under: All Posts, Motivational Leadership

A couple of weeks ago, I spent 2 days listening and learning from David Wood.  If you’ve ever had the opportunity to attend an event given by David Wood, then you will know what I mean when I say

“WOW”!

It was there that I met “shleprock”.  Who is shleprock?  It is my impostor.

Our impostor is that little voice in our head that says “you’re not ready yet”, “you have to get organized before..”, “are you sure you should?”, “you can do that later”.

Sound familiar?

Our impostor is not all bad.  It is that part of our brain which takes care of us.  It protects us from injury and watches over us so we don’t get hurt.   But we no longer are in the middle ages where we have to run away from saber tooth tigers.

It just forgets about that!

Now we asked David, how to stop our imposter from getting in our way.  His answer was, drum rollllll,

“I  don’t know!”  That was honest wasn’t it?

But he did say that just by recognizing that we do have an impostor makes all the difference.  The impostor is not me, the real me.

And that once you recognize that it isn’t you, then telling your impostor to “cool it” will put it on hold until the next time it feels like interfering.

The trick here is to continue on in spite of the warnings because once you have put action behind the thought, the next time the same scenario comes around again, the action will be that much easier until you don’t hear the impostor anymore because it will now be a normal occurrence that the impostor does not have to worry about anymore.

Make any sense to you?

What Not To Say To A Prospect..

Written by Marie on Jan 29th, 2009 | Filed under: All Posts, Lead Generation, Training

When meeting with a prospect, some network marketers make huge mistakes that can turn their prospect completely off.

  1. First off, don’t hide that your opportunity is network marketing.  Some people already have a problem with that type of model, so being secretive will only emphasize that notion.
  2. On the other hand, telling the prospect right off that it is network marketing can also be a problem, because not too many really know what network marketing is really all about.  If the person asks you if it is network marketing , then that’s ok.  Answer their question.
  3. Don’t start off your conversation with an invite straight to your company.  Saying “getting involved” draws objections from people and can put them right off from the start.  You may think that your opportunity will excite them just as much as it did you, but don’t count on it.

So what to do?

What works well is to use a 3rd party to invite your prospect to look at the network marketing industry.  You first have to get their confusion about the network marketing industry cleared up if you wish to sponsor them into your business.

More importantly, if you don’t clear up the network marketing issue right from the beginning and your prospect does join your business, they won’t be active as doubts about the industry will still be present and they won’t recognize all the possibilities that network marketing could bring them.

So here’s how you get the best results:

  • you connect with your prospect concentrating your attention on them and their interests
  • you qualify them by identifying what they need, product or business wise
  • you invite them to look at some educational material that will deliver what they need, especially an explanation of the network marketing industry

These steps can only insure your success. And oh yes, don’t forget to follow-up.

Cynics Don’t Belong In Network Marketing..

Written by Marie on Jan 28th, 2009 | Filed under: All Posts, Motivational Leadership

If you don’t know by now that your attitude has a lot of power, then it’s time you listened.

I’m not going to start preaching but if you are truly cynical, which comes from a negative attitude, you might have to think twice before starting an MLM business.

Or change your mindset.

You decide what to focus on , no one else.

I have a friend that is a perpetual whiner, but never fixes the cause of the problem. Everything around her is to blame and never looks at herself for answers. Then she wonders why she struggles all the time.

This type of self absorbed mindset will definitely not create any form of MLM success in your life but certainly will create the success of failure.

That type of person expects only one thing in their life and that is if something is good, there will be something bad in it somewhere. The glass in not only half empty but there is a whole in it too.

It you have read “The Secret” or books of a similar nature, you will already know that what you expect from life generally does happen.

So if you have to tweak your life for success, then change your mindset. Read books, watch DVDs, listen to audios, do anything that you need to do to facilitate this change within you.

Identify with inspiring leaders who have been there and done that, especially in the business you are working in. These leaders have nuggets which can change your life. Now being part of a team with such a leader only spells success.

So if you don’t change your mindset, your MLM business will only be half full and slowly pouring out the other end leaving you an empty business with no residual income

The Power Of Recruiting Beyond Your Business..

Written by Marie on Jan 27th, 2009 | Filed under: All Posts, Lead Generation, Training

If you could explode your MLM recruiting by touching people in such a way that would make them follow you anywhere you go, would you be interested in finding out what it was?

Well, such a secret does exist and whether you recruit through online marketing or face to face, this next hot recruiting tip may just propel you over the top with an increased recruiting ratio.

What I have learned from other top leaders is that we need to recruit beyond the business.

In order to do that you have to consider the impact you can have on people’s lives.

Take yourself for example. Did anyone ever tell you that you could truly succeed, that you had it in you to do great things and did anyone ever care enough to take the time to show you how you could be great?

The majority of people out there have not had that kind of attention. They are starving for someone to show them that they can go beyond the mundane of every day life.

But you have the POWER to change all of that.

Recruiting is not just about getting someone to sign up for your business opportunity but rather about touching that person in the heart, showing that you care about their dreams and goals for a better future.

This is what is meant by recruiting beyond your business. Whether you like it or not, you are in the business of caring for your fellow man.

You do this by focusing on what the business and product you have can bring to your recruit’s life. You show them the possibility of a better them which will motivate them to go on a life changing crusade.

As their self esteem increases, their financial status will change and so will their relationship with family and friends.

They will finally see the person they want to become as they become that person through growth, maturity and increase in all areas of their life.

So if you just show how your business can do that for them, then your network marketing paycheck will only keep on growing, forever.

Fighting Your Biggest MLM Opponent..

Written by Marie on Jan 26th, 2009 | Filed under: All Posts, Motivational Leadership

There is someone out there who is fighting your every step of the way.

He tells you that you can’t succeed, that what you are doing is hard and brings doubt as to whether others will listen to what you have to say.

Clue? It’s you. You are your biggest opponent to success.

As yourself how badly you really want to succeed in life and in your Network Marketing business?

Check the level of your desire on the scale of 0 to 100%.

Are you willing to go the distance and fight with all your being to make your business a success?

We fight with Success every day because we just don’t want to go that extra mile to reach our goals. There really are no exceptions to this. The only person who stops you from achieving your goals is YOU.

All day you fight untruths about yourself “ I’m just too shy” “I don’t know enough” “I’m not pretty enough” “I’m afraid of what people will think of me”

Bull hockey!

These thoughts are the complete opposite of what attraction marketing is based upon. They will only attract failure and mediocrity like a magnet on steroids.

Harv Eker of the “Millionaire Mind” showed me clearly how my words, my thoughts, are keeping me from succeeding the way I dreamed.

But no longer, because as I force inside garbage to honor truth about me and about what my Creator wants for my life, I am finding the greatness inside of me and am pounding mediocrity and failure into the ground.

I know I am doing it and by increasing the fight in me I find the bigger me inside that can create a destiny and future that will astound and amaze me.

I refuse to give up!

Is Your Downline Stuck In The Mud?..

Written by Marie on Jan 22nd, 2009 | Filed under: All Posts, Training

It’s inevitable to get some folks that turn into mud balls that can’t roll anymore. It seems that the more you do the more imbedded they get.

It can get quite frustrating but it can be fixed.

However, you are partly responsible for this situation.

Now is the time to look in the mirror of your business and your leadership to root out the culprit responsible for this situation.  It’s the time for honesty but you have to get beyond the self blame game and just start working at correcting the part that needs to change.

There are 5 questions you need to ask yourself that will help you identify where the problem is:

1. Instead of looking at what your downline is not doing, look at what you are not doing.  If you are not doing, they just might be copying you.

2. Are you too caught up in helping your downline with what is missing as to training, support and available tools? If so, then you are not teaching by modeling the desired behaviour you want them to express because you are too busy trying to keep them focused.

3. Are there goals set with in your downline that will focus your group to work towards something.  They need a target to aim for.  This can be a challenge with monetary rewards or a major event they can attend such as the yearly convention get together or even an important conference call to participate in with a top leader.

4. Go beyond what is expected by keeping the momentum alive and making things happen right away for your new recruit.  It’s time to get in the trenches by showing them that success can be achieved and painting with words of success in their minds will keep them there.  You need to have a step by step model for them to follow and not let them flounder on their own.

5. The child must be able to walk on his own someday.  They are not mama’s boy or girl for you to keep dependent upon you in order to make you feel like a star.  It’s your leadership that will help them build independence and it’s tools that will train them to be recruiting maniac with you there to lead them.

But let’s say you have done all of the above and your downline is still not doing anything then there is only one thing left for you to do.

Get new people. As one top leader said, “it’s a lot easier to give birth than to raise the dead.”

How To Be In Front By Holding Back..

Written by Marie on Jan 19th, 2009 | Filed under: All Posts, Motivational Leadership, Training

Look at top leaders who are prized as mentors by their students. What is one thing they don’t have?

Ego!

People with an ego repel others so if you are trying to attract people to you then you better think about losing your ego now.

You see, if you are one that likes to boast about your accomplishments and let everything out on the table, then there is really nothing else for people to keep them begging for more.

Having an extra ace or two to play when you need it the most may just be what will help you succeed, especially in the game of network marketing.

You might be thinking right now “well what’s wrong with letting people know how wonderful I am?”

Blowing your own horn often sounds sour to others but have someone else blow your horn, then that’s another thing totally.

Then the key is what do you have to do to have others blow your horn?

It’s all in helping others achieve their short term goals. When you help someone, they are usually so appreciative that somewhere down the line what you have done for them will get to be heard by other people.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with humility, in fact it is an essential quality for you to succeed in network marketing, plus it is an endearing quality that simply attracts others to you.

There is another plus to not letting everyone know all you know. It is a sign of wisdom. It means that you are ready to listen to others and to learn.

You already know what you are saying but you can learn so much more by listening to others.

To be a leader you need to create an image of strength and by not blowing your own horn and being willing to listen, you will glow with leadership power that you may not have had before and it will keep you in front of the crowd.

5 Rules For Effective Prospecting In Network Marketing..

Written by Marie on Jan 8th, 2009 | Filed under: All Posts, Lead Generation, Training

Trying to jog your memory for possible hot prospects?  Well, there are at least 5 rules you should consider that can make that process easier.

  1. Consider the prospect’s age first. Is the person at least 25 and older.  Most of the people serious about having a home based business usually fall within this category.  I said “most”.
  2. Is your prospect a happy person in a happy relationship?  This point may seem a little odd to consider but think about it.  If the person is in a sound relationship, this can create a team that works well together and can propel that team to really great success. A common goal is much better worked on by two persons rather than one.  If the partner is not interested in the business they can at least offer support for their loved one.
  3. If the couple is married, or not, nowadays, are there children involved? Sometimes children can be an incentive for the parents to assure that they are providing a great future for their children.
  4. Now is  your prospect employed? It’s OK to approach someone who is not working  but you must consider that it will take some income to support the business as it is being built.  Will they be able to do that? So maybe it’s best to look for people that are already employed.
  5. Is your prospect a homeowner? Why does this matter?   Well, owning a home is a commitment that takes stability and responsibility, qualities you need in a good prospect.  You can also show them how they can pay for their home early.

Using the above criteria can help point you in the right direction and pre-qualify your prospects. After all, you don’t want just anybody in your business.
