To succeed in internet marketing, you need to apply some strategic internet marketing techniques.

So, what is strategic internet marketing?

Strategic internet marketing is basically having a promotion plan that employs effective and proven marketing devices to get high converting results for your internet marketing business.

You must use a list of selected marketing plans that are effective; and you must make sure that you perfect your skills in these strategies in order to make them effective.

The first thing you will need to do is to establish your advertising budget. You must establish how much you can spend weekly or monthly.

Every promotion for your internet marketing business must have a purpose and it is critical to track the results of each and every advertisement. Tracking your ads means that you can then identify the strategies that are bringing the best results for your advertising dollar.

After you have identified the ads that are working, you can allocate more money towards those specific ads. By tracking your ads, you can also find out which ads are not working, or which ones need adjusting.

The key to strategic internet marketing is to constantly improve your marketing strategies by making them more effective.

If you do not track your marketing campaigns and ads – you are simply operating in the dark and this will not bring you any success in internet marketing. You are simply throwing your money away.

So, which marketing strategies actually work?

There are proven marketing strategies that can guarantee you success in internet marketing if you apply them consistently.

1) Writing and submitting articles

A very effective and inexpensive way of promoting your business. Writing articles builds your credibility and also drives plenty of targeted traffic to your site, all for free.

2) Pay per Click Advertising (PPC)

PPC is the fastest way to get traffic to your internet marketing business’ website. However, to make this strategy successful and cost effective for your internet marketing
business, you must educate yourself about keyword selection and bidding for your keywords.

3) Start Your Own Ezine

This is most likely the most powerful marketing technique on the internet. Having your own list of subscribers to send a newsletter to on a regular basis is a powerful way of expanding your internet marketing business.

4) Viral Marketing

This is another very popular and effective marketing strategy for your internet marketing business. You can give “stuff” away that people can use and put links to your web site in it.

Information is a powerful tool in marketing. Give people rights to share “stuff” with their friends and email lists. In the long term, this will bring plenty of traffic to your website.

5) Linking

One way or reciprocal linking is critical to your online success. This tactic takes time to develop, but it is well worth your effort. Search engines assess the importance of your website by the number of incoming links pointing to your site. You can build one way links by article writing and submitting and also participating in relevant forums etc.

6) Search Engine Optimization

This is another long term marketing tactic for your internet marketing business. Your pages must be fully optimized for the search engines. The most inexpensive and targeted traffic you can receive will come from high search engine rankings.

7) Lead Generation Software

You can consider this vertical marketing, reaching a specific industry or market, also known as reverse marketing. Make no mistake about it. This is not spamming but finding highly targeted and responsive leads every time for your business. An effective lead generation program will retrieve e-mails, names and even phone numbers. This is an aggressive approach which gets immediate results, and at the same time builds your list considering how long other strategies take. This is by far the most effective.

The real benefit is that you don’t have to spend money each week on ineffective leads from brokers that are old and don’t work. Once you purchase the lead generation software, you have it for ever. Finding one that is simple and easy to use eliminates the frustration of getting started.

However, more importantly is the support and training that is available. Another way to utilize the software is to work it in with offline methods, considering you also have phone numbers you can send e-mails and follow up with a phone calls and even postcard mailings. Regarding the cost, I found them ranging from the low end to the high end. Remember you usually get what you pay for.

I’ve learned that the best way to work with prospects is to take the consultative approach.

You must provide value way before you can pitch your business opportunity. The old way of selling your opportunity is the old way of network marketing. That model comes from a very selfish mindset, even if the belief help by the prospector is one of wanting to help people.

People hate being sold to but they love buying. ONLY if it’s their idea!

The key is to assist the person in any way you can. But for you to provide value you must have learned how to do this in the first place.

You must never stop learning so that you can be ahead of the masses. This will translate into something that you can teach and bring value to your prospect.

You share your experience with your prospect and continue to move forward all the time.

Set your business opportunity up so that your prospect will be the one to mention it first. While connecting with the person and getting to know them, you will be able to continue adding value and the prospect will be more open to hearing about your opportunity.

Look at it this way. You want to get to the point where they will be calling you and coming to you.

So providing value first is the key that will make your prospects come running and the building of a list of quality leads prepared to come on board will explode.

Learning is not hard but it takes time and yes money. But if you’re not ready to invest in yourself, your success will be very shortlived.

Getting the necessary training with someone that will teach you simply but effecitvely how to market yourself can be life changing.

This is where knowing how to qualify your leads is crucial.

What’s a qualified prospect? It’s a person who needs or wants your product because it satisfies a need or solves a problem they have.

So how will your prospect know if what you have is for them? This is where good training kicks in.

You will have done your homework. If this is a referral from a friend, asking that friend to give you a little bit of background is not being nosy. You only want to ensure that what you have will satisfy their need.

If this is a cold call, which I don’t do by the way, you will have to do a little bit of research. Having an online application is a good start since it will eliminate the nosy from those who have an interest.

Your prospect most likely will not bite the first time around. This is where you need to start a relationship with this person. This is easy to do if you use the internet. If the person can only be contacted by telephone, make sure you get their permission to continue following up with them.

Taking the time to qualify your prospect is time well spent. Remember that this is your business and your products, your time and how you conduct this business is your business and you don’t want to just have anyone be part of it.

The less time you waste the more productive you will be.

Some prospects will let you know right away they aren’t interested. Many will not be interested. Some simply won’t understand how you could possibly help them, until you educate them.

And here’s something you need to know and work WITH, not against.

Some prospects will rule themselves out with their very own questions to you.

Take for instance: How hard do I have to work to make any money? How fast can I make money? Is this a pyramid scheme?

Get the idea? These prospects are simply not for you. Why? Because they won’t do what needs to happen to make your business work for them or for you.

And you’re not in business to lose business or customers. Working lead the proper way will become easier if you put some of these tips to work for you.

That’s why you are asking for referrals from clients as well as others who have no interest in your product.

But you hate it?

Get over it!

If you intend to build a business based on residual income, there’s no getting away from it.

Are you the shy type? No matter. Being shy is ok but you will need to push yourself beyond your normal comfort zone.

I grant you some people make it look easy. However, anyone can learn a new skill if they really want to.

The key here is desire, again. We always seem to come back to this word. That’s because it’s what drives you to success or failure.

Without it you will just be treading water and eventually drown.

The question here is: Do you really want your business to grow and generate residual income? If yes, then you MUST do lead generation.

So how can you learn to like generation?

Be positive and confident

Be proactive in your lead generation duties

Learn new skills that will stretch beyond your comfort zones

Be patient, consistent and persistent

Understand and listen to your client’s needs

Sort, sift and qualify your prospects

Be willing to let go those that don’t fit with you

Let creativity take over, freeing you from a rigid structure

Be prepared to follow up on all your contacts regularly

It’s in the follow-up that you will strike oil because it will be your contact who will recommend someone who may be interested in your product and it may even be the leader you were looking for to grow your team into that residual pump you are working so hard to create.

You’re just about to go and contact your first warm market lead and it’s a friend and colleague whom you’ve worked with for many years.

Your goal is find a client and get referrals right away.

How do you approach this person so as not to scare them off?

More importantly, you hate rejection and want to avoid it at all cost.

If you’ve had access to quality training, you will have been taken through a scenario similar to the one I am presenting below.

“Hi Jim, this is Marie. (get the niceties out of the way before you start your script. If you just jump in at the beginning you will certainly put the person on edge).

You know I’ve worked with you for the last couple of years and I really respect you as a person and especially respect your opinion.

(you must edify the person first before plunging in. Caution here: be sincere. If the person is an ass, then why are you calling them in the first place.)

I was wondering if you could do me a small favor. (wait for response)

I want to share with you a story that has changed literally thousands of people’s lives, mine too by the way, and I am currently looking for people who can connect with the people in the story.

Are you in front of your computer at the moment? ( if yes, you can give them the link to one of your company’s tools, assuming that they have one. a video is always best because facts tell but stories sell.)

I’ll hold on while you watch this video. It’s only 5 minutes and I want to get your opinion about it.

(if the person does not have a computer handy at the moment, tell them you will be calling back: this is where you have to set up an appointment to talk to them again)

When can we reconnect? (always give 2 options for both day and time.)

If the person can watch the video right away and they get back on the line you say:

“Now wasn’t that a beautiful story Jim? Don’t you love it?

You see the people in that story, those are the types of people I’m looking for and I’m asking your help in finding these people. Do you know of anyone who would be interested?”

(Of course, the pressure will be off your contact and they will be more receptive to helping you find someone rather being solicited directly. They will also think,” Well what’s wrong with me as one of these persons?”)

This is a win win scenario for you as a recruiter and your contact who will not feel pressed to buy into your product or business.

A famous phrase I often hear from my up-line trainer who is one of the most successful leaders in my network marketing company, is “structure creates freedom”.

This was in reference to leads follow-ups. After all, if the follow up is done properly, one never needs to go out of their warm market, which means no cold calls.

The greatest and most powerful tool all networkers should be using is the DRIP list method. If you’re an experienced in network marketing, you will be familiar with this technique.

Why do we see commercial over and over again?

Because it takes us many viewings to recognize the value of what is being presented. In the same vein, when sharing a new idea or product with a possible client, it may take 6 to 7 tries before they get it!

9 out of 10 leads don’t get it the first time around. So knowing that, then it is just a matter of constantly exposing them over a period of time, like a drop of water falling on stone, until the client gets it!

With that in mind, keep a good list of all your leads, date first contacted and jot down some key points about that person such as family members, names, health, whatever is relevant.

After all, your memory may be good but once you get a long list of people that you need to keep in touch with, it gets pretty hard to remember all the details that are important to that person.

I keep this information on 3×6 index cards in a little plastic box. This may seem to be a Neanderthal method to you, as using the computer for storage would be no problem at all. But for me, this is one resource I like to do by hand.

I find it satisfying to rifle through those cards and see how many are accumulating. It inspires me!

Now, every month, there are 2 days or so that are strictly designated to following up with these leads. If your client is active, you really don’t need to follow-up on these days because if you’re doing your business right to start with, you’re already following up with them on a regular basis anyway.

This strategy is for clients that are no longer active. This is not a cold call. You know this person and they know you. Already there exists a bond. Hearing the click of someone hanging up in your ear will not be something for you to fear.

In order to keep your call interesting, you must bring something of value to the table.

This could be in the form of a document, audio or video that you tell them you will send by either snail mail or email. Your goal is to bring value.

At the end of your call, make sure to ask permission for another follow-up next month.

Your purpose it not to expect a reply.

But I thought the idea was to activate old clients for expected new sales? Wrong!

You are just sharing information. Now don’t get me wrong, they may buy again but that is not your objective.

You are creating a community of people linked by the same interests and slowly expanding your warm market which allows you to build deep.

This person may or may not be a client again but at one point they will be open to giving up a name or two to help you, as they will have seen that you are genuinely interested in helping them, even though they gave nothing in return.

Teaching your associates to use this technique is a smart move and easily duplicable.

It also removes that fear of rejection we get at the thought of approaching new leads for the first time.

I hate cold calls too and I don’t waste time on them. There are much better ways to get leads.

So all in all, it’s a win win technique. Pass it on!

Lead generation always seems to give network marketers a headache. It doesn’t have to be so.

Yes you do need to find people who will buy what you have to sell and it can be seen as a lot of grunt work which is the bones of your business after all. But that is just the way it is. You need customers or you have no business.

So you need to learn the skill of generating leads. It’s really not that hard. If you are already in network marketing, you will have had some training with your upline which should have put you on the right path.

There are several ways to generate leads:

Advertising in an easy method with which to get your feet wet. Now there are many ways to advertise. You can do it on the web, newspapers, magazines, local display boards, etc.

Trade shows are another venue. Set up a table with your goods showing the benefits of using them to others. It may bring you sales.

Publicity and public relations can be considered. However, it can cost big bucks.

Product literature such as brochures, CD’s and DVD’s are all good tools to hand out. The investment here is minimal, especially if you produce them yourself.

Website guided presentations are also easy and can be quite powerful.

Your goal is to communicate with large sectors of the population. The more people you reach, the more are likely to be interested in your product or business.

You could consider buying leads. This can really cost you big money though. However, a very simple and effective way to generate leads that don’t cost an arm and a leg is to learn the techniques used by lead generation companies that actually sell you those leads. They have to have a way to get them too you know. There are free videos you can get online that will teach you those methods and it will be up to you to do the follow-up.

The lead may be cold or hot but either way, the more contacts you have the more likely you will be able to have one say yes to your opportunity.

Following up is really the most important tip you can get from this article because it is in the following up that you start to build a relationship which brings trust and eventually what you really want, a contact ready to be a business partner which will fatten your down line and your pocket book in the end.
