With the recession in full force, the Internet is now more than ever abuzz with people looking to increase their weekly income. However, the not so scrupulous marketer is also seeking to get rich off the backs of these people
So how can a person recognize an opportunity scam when they see one?
Before even enumerating the seven ways you can tell if an offer is a scam, beware of the so-called “business in a box”.
Why do I say that?
Because no matter how sweet it sounds to you, how many other thousands of people did it sound sweet to before you?
Does competing against thousands of people for the same product, using the same website and the same marketing strategies sound appealing to you?
These sorts of offers are only after your money and nothing else.
So to make sure you don’t get scammed by unscrupulous marketers, here are 7 important tips that will identify if the offer is a scam or not:
1.Would you trust a part-time mechanic with your precious vehicle without knowing if he can do the work right or not? Have you seen other cars he has worked on successfully? If not, the same goes for any company that can’t prove a successful track record.
2.Is your mechanic elusive? Is the answering machine the only contact you are having with him? Therefore, no talk, no work, no business!
3.The testimonials you did reach had lousy things to say about him. Do your research and Google search is a great place to start. Use the word “scam” as part of your search plus customer review. Bad reviews overshadow good comments, then stay clear.
4.As mentioned before, if thousands of people are selling the same thing you would be and you can’t identify how you could put your unique spin on the marketing so you can stand out of the crowd, then you will be setting yourself up for heartaches and headaches.
5.Have other clients recommended his work to you? Have you talked to a real person or just can’t seem to connect with the contact information you were given to check it out. You should be able to get real testimonials either in person or by telephone or by Internet. However, watch the dates of these testimonials. You could be paying big money for an opportunity that has long since dried up.
6.Are you having to pay the company for selling their affiliate product? Right there should be a toll bell going off. You are doing them a favor not the other way around.
7.You’re going to become a millionaire in only 3 months! NOT! Outrageous claims with no proof should be reason enough to be skeptical. Building a profitable business online takes time, especially if you looking to make it one that will pay well for a long time to come.
Where’s the proof, who says what, research thoroughly and use your gut instinct; if you follow these tips, you are sure to make a decision that won’t land you in the poor house.
