5 Essential Criteria Needed Before Choosing A Direct Selling Company…

Written by Marie on Jun 26th, 2008 | Filed under: All Posts

Ok, so you’ve just decided that you’re going to start and build a direct selling business in network marketing and because most people want better health, wellness is your niche. Now what? Do you just go ahead and jump into the first thing that comes along?

Of course not!

You investigate and see which company will be the fortunate receiver of your talents and energy. Because the cardinal rule of direct selling says: “You should absolutely use and believe in the products or services you sell.”, you must first ask yourself whether you would buy this product or service if you were not part of the sales organization.

If no, don’t go there. If yes, then consider these next questions:

  • is this product at the cutting edge of technology?
  • is there something that sets it apart from all the others?
  • does it improve people’s lives?

1. Once you’ve answered those 3 basic questions, it’s now time to consider the 5 most essential criteria every company should have if you wish to make an intelligent and wise choice. While you’re in business for yourself but not by yourself, is there a good support structure which includes marketing materials, training opportunities, online ordering systems, operations and most important emerging new products and technology?

This is not a 9 to 5 job you’re going into. Most of us think of this as a part-time opportunity that has the possibility to lead us out of the 9 to 5 grind. It’s easy to tell your boss goodbye, but not so easy to tell your many clients and associates that you made a mistake and want to change company.

2. With that in mind, then the next obvious move is to investigate and assess the company’s background. What is their track record? How long has this company been in business and what businesses have they run prior to this one? How committed are they to providing the best in information, training and education?

Personal development seminars similar to the Millionaire Mind Intensive offered by Harv Eker, which I just experienced this last weekend, are examples of courses that should be held often in order to help you broaden and deepen your skills. Are they using the latest, best technology and what can you tell from their Internet presence?

3. Another important area to consider is whether the company is suited for global expansion and what its present international exposure and plans are for future growth?

Don’t forget that you are choosing a partner to do business with and you should leave no stone unturned!

4. An important quality of a good business is whether it belongs to the Direct Selling Association (DSA). The DSA has certain codes of business ethics which insure proper conduct in the market place:

· Nominal start-up costs

· Optional purchases for inventory or materials

· The user earns money from sales of products or services not from the sheer act of recruiting

· The Company allows for return of unsold inventory within a specified time reimbursing usually 90% of the price paid

5. The final criteria are patience and expectations, meaning that the Company doesn’t expect you to get rich quick although it may be providing you with all the tools necessary for you to do so. A mature, high quality direct selling company presents the income opportunity as a serious commitment that can yield results all dependent upon your efforts.

How long could this take? You should expect to put in consistent effort for 2 to 5 years and in this time be able to create a significant stream of long-term residual income. After all, isn’t this what it’s all about? Retiring early with no worry of where the next dollar will come from in order to pay the bills?

As Harv Eker says: “If your goal is to be comfortable, chances are you’ll never get rich. But if your goal is to be rich, chances are you’ll end up mighty comfortable.

And the direct selling industry of network marketing is almost the only vehicle out there that can help you to achieve your goals for the least amount of money invested.

It has changed my life!

Residual Income Using Technology

There is nothing to stop you from making residual income while working your business in network marketing.

If you are not familiar with affiliate programs, let me educate you.

If you find a product that really interests you and that you deem to have good value, very often the creator of this product will offer affiliate opportunity. All this means is that you will have the right to sell that product and get paid for doing it. What you get paid depends upon the creator or the company holding the product.

Clickbank has one of the biggest affiliate programs around. There are also other programs that teach you how to set up an internet business and others that offer you the possibility of growing a list of names of your own for you to market to.

Some of these are:

If you have read “The Science of Getting Rich”, then you will be applying all the concepts and tools you can to every part of your life.

Using the affiliates programs are just a smart progression to creating residual income and it’s fun!

“Remember that you create your desires whether good or bad, that’s why you are often told to watch out what you wish for.

W. Wattles in his book says it very clearly:

“There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made that in its original state permeates, penetrates and fills all the areas of the universe.

A thought in this substance produces the thing that is imaged by the thought.

Man can form things in his thought, and by impressing his thought upon formless substance, can cause the thing he thinks about to be created.

In order to do this, man must pass from the competitive to the creative mind; otherwise he cannot be in harmony with the Formless Intelligence, which is always creative and never competitive in spirit.”

One very important aspect of creating is your grateful heart. The grateful heart will be the most important wheel of your organization because without it, your associates will leave you behind after a time and your organization will no longer flourish.

Motivation Equals Sizzle

To keep your organization sizzling with interest, you must keep positive people around and involve your associates in the process.

This is all part of your training. You will:

  1. be role playing,
  2. be introducing the business to new prospect
  3. be holding product training sessions
  4. be giving home parties
  5. be holding weekly pre-determined conference calls
  6. be attending company training

But most importantly you will be keeping a constant temperature in your business with

    • no hype
    • no highs
    • no lows

Your presence will motivate others and how you act will set the tone at all times.

Finely Tuned Training

Written by Marie on Jun 9th, 2008 | Filed under: All Posts, Fine Tuning

Go back to the beginning. Remember when I mentioned that you needed to work with 5 serious persons to achieve a solid business that will bring you residual income for years to come?

Then remember this: You cannot train more than 5 people at a time or else there will be something that will suffer in the long run. Training takes dedication and a solid plan of action. If 5 serious people were duplicating your actions, you could basically quit working. But as you get good at it, and have finished with these 5, you will want to train 5 more and so on. That’s the beauty of network marketing. You want to see other people succeed along with you.

And that’s how you’re going to get rich.

Here is a simple breakdown of how your time will be spent:

  • 95% of your time will be spent working with your associates
  • 2.5% of your time will be spent sharing your product with friends and family
  • 2.5% of your time will be spend planting seeds

Training Plan In Action

Your main operating system (MOS), the one upon which all of your training depends upon can be explained simply:

Expose: teach your associates the true meaning of network marketing if they don’t already understand the concept

Involve: help them get started and get a commitment

Upgrade: encourage them to go for the gold (upgrading will happen as a natural process of your hard work, but can happen more quickly if you are pointed in that direction right from the beginning. Remember that as you upgrade, so does your compensation increase.

Network marketing is a very simple business that can have very big rewards.

Your goal is to work with people that:

    1. are eager to learn
    2. ask for help
    3. excited about the business
    4. make a commitment and use the product
    5. set goals
    6. are fun to be with
    7. never see the glass as half empty

Zig Ziglar says: You can have anything in the world that you want, simply by helping enough other people to get what they want.”

4 Must Do Training Steps

Only losers are quitters and until you have been trained, you have not even started!

Training is the hinge upon which your business will hang. If your hinge is made of sub-quality material, your business will fail. But if your hinge is made of strong titanium, it can take endless years of opening and closing without damage and your efforts will bring you success, no matter what. How much success is entirely up to you!

But you need to start at the beginning.

When you are traveling, you usually have a destination in mind.

  1. you get into your car
  2. you start the motor
  3. you put it into drive
  4. follow the road

The same analogy goes for network marketing.

  1. you decide to start
  2. you use the product
  3. you share with friends and family
  4. you get trained so you can pass it on

After you have decided to start, your sponsor goes into high gear and follows a designed plan of training that will motivate you and help you feel comfortable with what you are doing.

Remember you are in business for yourself but not by yourself.

This training can take several avenues such as:

  • one on one training
  • familiarization with internet sponsoring
  • role playing
  • video training
  • product education
  • group meetings
  • 3 way calls
  • even home presentations

Ok, I can already see some of you torturing your faces with grimaces. I don’t care what network marketing business you are in, all of the above are a must, at first, if you want to succeed in the long run.

You are building a solid foundation and need to know how deep to dig and how much concrete to pour or else your building will crumble after a few years. This takes time, dedication and a great desire to succeed.
